This year has been the worst year on record for Oasis Animal Hospital patients being diagnosed with heartworm disease. One recent case motivated me to notify our clients again of the importance of testing and prevention. Previously thought to be of low risk in this area, we have seen a dramatic increase in heartworm disease over the past few months.
Now Bandit faces a treatment protocol that is both risky and expensive. I am committed to communicating with as many of our clients as possible the seriousness of this preventable disease. This article is my way of encouraging our clients who may have let their pets heartworm prevention lapse or have neglected to do the annual testing: Please call and schedule an appointment to get caught up.
If you are unsure if your pet is on Heartworm prevention, please call.
